The Platinum Preppy Fountain Pen has never pretended to be anything other than what it is: a properly engineered Japanese fountain pen that costs less than a sandwich. The barrel is translucent, so the ink supply stays in plain sight. The nib is stainless steel with an abrasion-resistant tip. Eight colours, three nib widths, and a clip that matches whatever is inside.

At just under thirteen grams it sits lightly between the fingers, and the narrow section encourages a relaxed grip rather than a clenched one. Cap it and Platinum’s Slip & Seal mechanism takes over leave the pen untouched for a year and it will still write on the first stroke. It is also the only fountain pen you can afford to lose.
