The Akiko Miyakoshi Hobonichi Pencil Board for A6 Size (Sunny Day) is made to fit the A6 Original techo. It prevents ballpoint pens from slipping on the page and keeps indentations from forming, making for a much more comfortable writing experience.

Hobonichi have selected three designs from the work of picture-book artist Akiko Miyakoshi each one inviting you to linger over her delicate brushwork, the texture of light and shadow, and the quiet sense of atmosphere and fragrance that drifts through her scenes. The other two designs are made for the other techo sizes and are sold separately.

Sunny Day was inspired by a charming window scene Miyakoshi glimpsed while travelling through the Cotswolds in England, which she then let her imagination expand upon. The reverse side is yellow, evoking the warmth and brightness of sunlight.

The back has markings at 1 mm intervals along the long edge, so it can also be used as a ruler.

The corner of the pencil board includes a Today tab, which will act as a bookmark to show which day youre on if you put it between the pages of your techo.

The Akiko Miyakoshi series also includes techo covers, a Weeks and a notebook, and they are a quiet pleasure to use together as a set.

Akiko Miyakoshi is a childrens book author, born in Saitama Prefecture in 1982 and now living in a town at the base of the mountains in Nagano while creating new works. She debuted in 2009 with The Storm, has won several awards in Japan and internationally for The Tea Party in the Woods, The Way Home in the Night and Little Shrew, and her other books include I Dream of a Journey, The Piano Recital and Tom and Momo. Her works are currently published in over 15 languages, and she also contributes illustrations to magazines and other publications.

What Makes It Work So Well

• Steadier lines all year: Tuck it under the page you are writing on and the board stops your pen skidding, so no indentations bruise the sheets beneath.
• Cool and smooth to the touch: Yupo synthetic paper is slim and faintly slippery under the fingertips, and sturdy enough that it never creases in a bag.
