Celebrating Matariki
Matariki m Puanga acknowledges both the Matariki (Pleiades) and Puanga (Rigel) stars, which different iwi observe to mark the Mori New Year. While regions may follow different stars and traditions, the celebration shares common themes – honouring the past, celebrating the present, and looking to the future. The 2025 theme is about inclusion, unity, and embracing diversity. Matariki m Puanga reminds us that despite varied practices, we are all connected through shared values and the wairua of coming together. (https://www.matariki.com)
