The Stilform AEON Pencil is a pencil that has quietly disposed of the sharpener. Its tip is held on by a magnet: lift it off, press another on, and you have changed from graphite to the Eternal tip a metal alloy that writes like a soft pencil and shows almost no wear. The aluminium body carries a band of wood veneer where your fingers rest, and comes in nine anodised colourways, Polar White among them.

At 134.6mm and 27g it is light, cool and well balanced, with flat sides that keep it obediently on the desk. The magnetic click as the tip seats is the sort of small mechanical pleasure that gets a pencil picked up far more often than it strictly needs to be. It arrives with a graphite tip (HB) fitted.
