The Penco Passers Mate Mechanical Pencil has the shape and painted finish of an old-fashioned wooden pencil, and the habits of a mechanical one. It arrives loaded with 0.5mm HB lead, takes standard 0.5mm refills and is topped with a red eraser.

The barrel is light in the hand, and the line it draws stays exactly the same width from the first word of a page to the last. The colours are bright without being childish. It is, in short, a pencil that never needs sharpening and never looks as though it should.

Why You’ll Love It

• The same line every time: Notes taken at nine in the morning match those taken at five, with no blunt point creeping in.
• No shavings, no sharpener: You click and carry on, which matters more on the train than you might expect.
• Easy to find: In a crowded pencil case the bright barrel is always the first thing your hand lands on.
