Once established, Magnolia kobus produces an abundance of beautifully perfumed white flowers on bare branches before the foliage emerges, creating a striking early-season display. Initially pyramidal in shape, the tree gradually develops into an attractive rounded form as it matures.A reliable and trouble-free choice, it offers great versatility for home landscaping. When young, this deciduous magnolia may produce multiple stems from the base, which can be left to develop naturally for a more informal look. Alternatively, training a central leader will encourage a classic single-trunked tree with a graceful, umbrella-like canopy.
