  • The Hobonichi Techo, created in collaboration with the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum, London), celebrates the much-loved Arts and Crafts patterns of William Morris and his creative companions. Drawing from the museums unparalleled collections, each techo combines iconic designs with the Hobonichi Techos signature style.

The cover features Vine, with ripe grape clusters entwined in lush leaves. Originally designed in 1873 for a hand-printed wallpaper, the design reflects William Morris love of nature and its influence on the Arts and Crafts Movement.

To reflect the artistry behind the design, the cover is printed on a canvas-like material, which preserves the sketch lines and ink variations of the original.

Gold-foil embossing bears Morris famous words: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

The contents are the same as the Hobonichi Techo Cousin. The A5-size HON includes vertical weekly pages, allowing you to plan each week on a two-page spread.

Like the Hobonichi Techo, the HON features thread-stitched binding, so it opens flat at 180 degrees and stays that way no need to hold the pages down.

The pages are made of thin and light yet durable Tomoe River paper that holds ink well, providing a smooth writing experience.

The back of the techo contains bonus pages.

The English edition features standard favorites like My 100, Favorites, and the 365 Days Check-Off Sheet, alongside new additions like Phrases to Break That Writers Block, Hard-to-Translate Japanese Words, and the Hobonichis Neighborhood: Kanda/Jinbo-cho Map.

The Japanese edition includes standard favorites like My 100, Favorites, and Solar Terms, as well as new additions like Phrases to Break That Writers Block, Useful Sign Language Phrases to Know, and the Hobonichis Neighborhood: Kanda/Jinbo-cho Map.

A pencil board with a 5 mm grid, designed exclusively for the HON, is also available. Note: starting with the 2027 edition, the pencil board is sold separately.

Along with the techos, the V&A Series includes stationery items inspired by the museums iconic objects and architecture, bringing designs loved by people around the world right to your fingertips.

The V&A celebrates design and creativity in all its forms. It was founded in London in 1852 to advance cultural knowledge, and inspire makers, creators and innovators everywhere through a diverse collection of objects from around the world.

Today, the V&A continues to share a 5,000-year-old story of creativity, through its ever-evolving collection spanning every creative discipline, from art, design, fashion, photography and furniture to theatre, performance, architecture, and ceramics.

Colour may transfer to other items through friction or prolonged contact. This risk increases when the cover is exposed to water or sweat, so please take extra care when carrying it near clothing or other belongings.

Designed with You (and Your Ideas) in Mind

    • A wallpaper turned planner: Vines grapes and leaves were drawn in 1873 for hand-printed wallpaper, and the canvas-like cover keeps the sketch lines and ink shifts of the original rather than flattening them out.
    • Room for the long thought: The A5 page gives a full days worth of space, with vertical weekly spreads for the week ahead, so no idea ever gets abbreviated for want of room.
    • Opens flat, always: Thread-stitched binding lets the book lie open at a full 180 degrees, and the Tomoe River pages feel cool and papery-thin as your pen moves across them.
