The Hobonichi Drawer Pouch ne in Bow & Tie: Sheep Sheep Sheep is the largest of the Sheep pouches and the one that behaves most like a wallet. ne means older sister, and the name is fair. It takes cards, coins, tickets and a Weeks book without any of them fighting for room, and the green necktie cloth carries its flock in the weave rather than printed on top: one asleep, one mid-leap over a fence, one on a skateboard.

It opens accordion-style, so the whole interior presents itself at once. Six card pockets sit on each side, with longer slots for tickets and a zip pocket running down the centre, nine centimetres deep, for pens, keys or anything you would rather not lose. The fabric has the cool, faintly ribbed hand of a good tie and softens where you hold it. The gusset stays narrow, which is the quiet trick of the thing: it carries a great deal and still slides into a bag as though it carried nothing.

What Makes It Work So Well
