The Hightide 2027 Glow Check Square Monthly Diary prints a soft gingham check onto pearlised paper, which catches the light at an angle and then quietly lets it go again. The shape is square and pleasingly stubborn about it 105 millimetres across and five thick and it holds sixteen months of monthly grids between a calendar at the front and notes and personal data pages behind.

A clear sleeve slides over the cover, so the check never scuffs however roughly you treat your bag. The pearl surface is smoother than it looks, cool under your fingers, with a low lustre that stops well short of shine. The moon phases printed quietly into each grid are the detail you assume you will ignore and then find yourself checking.

Clever Details That Count

• The check stays as new: Months in and out of a bag and the cover still looks like the day you bought it, because the clear sleeve takes every scuff on its behalf. Nothing rubs through to the print.
• Notes that sort themselves: The notes pages divide into three, so you stop writing one long undifferentiated list. Lists, ideas and loose ends keep to their own third without you having to rule anything.
• A month you can read across the room: The grid stays open and uncluttered, so you take in where the busy weeks fall in a single glance. You always know what the month looks like before you commit to anything.
