The Hibi sense. Gift Box gathers all three fragrances of the sense. series into a single flat box: Sea for morning, River for noon, Forest for dusk. Eight incense matches of each, twenty-four in total, with a heat-resistant mat tucked in alongside. It is a whole day’s worth of scent, arranged in the order you would actually use it.

The box is barely a centimetre deep and lighter than it looks, which makes it an unusually easy thing to post. Each match burns for around ten minutes and leaves the room scented for a good half hour afterwards. A gift that gets used tends to beat a gift that gets admired.

Why You’ll Love It

• It suits someone you don’t know well: You never have to guess at a favourite scent, because all three are in the box. Whoever opens it works out their own preference within a week.
• It travels flat: You can post it in a padded envelope without a second thought. Nothing rattles, nothing needs protecting, and it doesn’t arrive looking apologetic.
• It sets a rhythm: You start with Sea in the morning and end with Forest at night, and the three scents quietly mark out the shape of the day.
