The exceptionally tough and reliable Dicksonia antarctica is one of the best choices for shady garden positions. A native, evergreen species, the Tasmanian Tree Fern is prized for its beautiful, graceful habit and lush green presence year-round. Elegant arching fronds are produced continuously throughout the warmer months, creating a classic rainforest look in sheltered gardens. For best results, trim fronds only once they have fully turned brown, cutting no closer than 15 cm (6 inches) from the trunk. This careful pruning encourages a healthier plant and promotes the development of a wider, stronger, and taller trunk.

Soil: Moist but well-drained organic loose soil – do not allow the soil to dry out.
Conditions: Plant in a protected area with part sun for best results. Needs winter protection when temperatures get below freezing. Strong prevailing winds will damage fronds.
Size: Height 4m x width 3m.
